tgif!!!

So glad it's Friday! I am sitting comfortably at my desk wearing my new love (the new running shoes. which really aren't looking that new anymore. I've put 60 miles on them already I think). Anyway where was I? Oh yes, wearing my shoes, my red pat green hat and white fitted t shirt. This is my new Friday uniform. I feel so comfy in it. My eyes keep avoiding the jar of candy corn on my desk. They are taunting me. "Saaaaarah, Saraaaarah you know you want us. Just a small handful, I promise. Then you can stop. Come on, take the lid off and reach in. Look how colorful we are in yellow, orange and white." I may have to move them to a new location or something.

I think tonight I'm just going to eat a good meal tonight and maybe watch a movie. I have to get up at 6am to get my 12 miles in before I go watch my friends son's soccer game at 9am. No rest for the weary! Can I please just have a normal weekend where I can sleep in???! I don't think people understand what they are asking of me to be somewhere on a Saturday. *sigh*

Probably will have brunch at Breadwinners again. Probably will watch the Texas game somewhere. I have my white and pink UT hat ready to go. Probably will go to this Halloween party not wearing a costume. Probably will not stay the whole time. Probably will have slight hangover on Sunday. Probably will be tempted to get up and run it off with a 3 mile jog. Probably ought to stop saying probably.

Anyway, I better go hide the candy corn. They are getting louder and more demanding.

Priceless

Waterworks 25k race registration $40
pasta meal Buca di beppo the night before per person $20
picture from race $8.95
boyfriend massaging my sore legs priceless

So my race went great. I thought there for awhile I was crazy and what a idiot I am to run these things. The temp dropped drastically. The wind came out of nowhere. Well it felt like the north but I'm not sure. It was 51 and winds were 15-25mph. Official results aren't up yet on the site but I have 2:05:44. Splits were
7:58:63
7:52:22
8:00:79
8:17:60 *side ache* wtf?!
7:37:70 wtf? I guess felt great after side ache recovery and narrowly missing squashing a squirrel.
7:54:84
7:50:96
7:52:52
8:04:38
8:05:49
8:43:69 had to walk and mentally regroup.
8:15:41
8:09:10
8:26:21
8:18:28
4:16:97 yeah crappy last 1/2 mile I was just glad to be done. I should have pushed more but I was happy with my time and tired.

It's all kinda a blur. I don't know how people recount an entire marathon in such detail. I took my first ice bath. It wasn't really so bad. It actually felt good on my legs. And I had yummy coffee and a towel around my shoulders to keep me warm.

One more month of hard training and it'll be time for the marathon!

The rest of the weekend:Friday went to Knox St and Drama Room. Saturday morning had breakfast at Breadwinners. I love their biscuits and gravy. Watched the Texas, Texas Tech game. Dinner at Buca De Pepo sp? with Ron and Andre. Race Sunday morning. Nicki and I took Chuy to the dog park at at White Rock Lake. It is so cute to watch all the little doggies running around making new friends. After my bath and shower we met up later for lunch. The rest of the day was resting on the couch with food, beer and movies. Ahhhhhh.....

What cute animal?

Did I say that yesterday? I think that should be changed to pig. Because I am staaaaaaarving. I need food and lots of it. So I said for this last hard month of training that I would eat better and drink less. It will not start today though. Because for breakfast I had 3 cookies, half a bagel and 2 cups of coffee. This was about 2 hours ago. Stomach is now grumbling. Lunch is very very far away. Well, technically it is at 1 but I have to go buy a new running watch for my race on Sunday. http://www.thrustonracing.com/ So I won't be back from doing that until 2pm. Then I'll sit at my desk and try to eat some chicken soft tacos in between work calls. I'm already looking forward to something yummy for Saturday nights dinner to prepare for my 25K. :)

Wish me luck!

What cute animal am I?

Awww

You Are A: Duckling!

DucklingThe cutest of the cute, these baby ducks are often spotted in the spring following closely behind their mother. As a duckling you will grow up quickly, becoming one of the adult ducks seen commonly in ponds and streams. Playful and timid, charming and vulnerable, ducklings are nature's very definition of innocence.

You were almost a: Pony or a Squirrel
You are least like a: Groundhog or a TurtleWhat Cute Animal Are You?

The lessons we learn

We have a halloween candy bowl at work. I grabbed a sucker out of there earlier and popped it in my mouth. I'm walking back to my desk with it and suddenly I hear my grandmother. "Don't run with that sucker in your mouth. Why don't you sit down?" She pounded that in my head so much that now I'm scared to eat a sucker and walk at the same time. Jesus.

Tommy is so cute

Broke still and not happy

I have to exchange the shoes. Damn it! I ran on the treadmill this morning to try them out without getting them dirty. After a mile I started feeling discomfort in my arches, especially my left one. I hit pause and retied them the way they showed me at the store for a more snug fit. Still pain. I stuck it out out to 3.1 and did some crunches and a few weights. What a waste of a day. At least I'm doing this now and not closer to the marathon. I think I'm going to go get the Sauconys at lunch.

So what else is new besides the shoes? Um, I ran into my ex's friends at Barnes and Noble yesterday. I'm sure that they will report back to him. He said they were supposed to be getting together this week or weekend so I'm bracing myself for a drunken text/email something.

I was invited to a halloween party. I honestly haven't dressed up since I was a kid. I have no idea what I would dress up as. Avril Lavigne? Gee, that would be a shocker. I always see the women dressed up as a cute scantily clad bunny or nurse or something. I always think to myself, god, what a slut. But just once I think it would be fun to do. Even as a kid my costumes had me fully covered. I was a black cat and my costume was complete fur, a angel with a long gown down the the floor, a really scary witch....I never was the little ballerina in a tutu or anything. I'm going to have to do some thinking on this one.

Broke but happy

I got new running shoes! I got new running shoes! I can't wait to try them out.
I went to the Run-On store in Dallas yesterday with the intent of buying new shoes. Well, $214 later yes I did get some new shoes. I love that place. So the nice guy that helped me fitted me for the new shoes, he looked at my foot, watched me walk and brought out 3 pairs. The Asics, some Saucony and I don't remember the other kind honestly. I've never worn Asics but these felt the best. He told me my old running shoes did not provide enough support on the inside kinda where the arch is and that very likely caused my injuries. They have a 14day guarantee so I'm going to run on the treadmill a couples times first to make sure they are right on me. Obviously if I was running through muddy puddles they aren't going to return them. lol. :) I picked up some long sleeve shirts and a headband/earwarmer.

Friday night I stayed in. Had some fajitas from Taco Cabana, watched tv and had a glass of wine.

Saturday morning I went to White Rock Lake. I ran around it once and then still felt good so did another 1.5 ish. Not sure on the distance because that thing is really not well marked. grrr. So I'm going to go ahead and guess 11 miles.

After that I went back to Ron's taking a different route. I was trying to find a new place to run. Somehow I ended up in fairpark with all the Tx/Ou fans and their traffic. Argg. Nicki picked me up and we went to Two Rows to watch the game. Tx won! Watched last part of Ne game. They lost just barely. :( And then later are whole group (about 15 of us) met back up to go out that night.

Yesterday, we discovered a new diner for breakfast. I went shopping. And then met up with Stephanie and Koby to see Two For the Money at StudioMovie grill.

And that's my weekend.....

My guide to the state fair

*Drink captain and diet before going to the fair. It makes the beers that much better.
*Don't wear sunscreen. It may be October but it's still gonna be fucking hot out there and everyone needs one last sunburn before the winter.
*Spend lots of money trying to win a stuffed animal.
*Play the game where you have to catapult a rubber chicken into a bucket. It's impossible to win.
*Chug the rest of your warm beer right before getting on a ride.
*Don't wear a pony tail holder so that your hair completely covers your face and you can't see a thing while on the rides.
*Eat as much fried food as you can.
*Then ride some more rides.
*Watch man eat 35 Krystal burgers and win eating contest.
*Spend very little time in the auto show in the nice cool air conditioning.
*Top all this off with Taco Bell and sleep with a belly full of crap.
