Updates
I got my new St. Pattys Day shirt. I think it's pretty dang funny. :)
In running news......I feel slow. I want to be FAST for my 5k. So all this week and next week I'm going to run shorter distances( 3 and 4 miles) at a faster pace. I know it's a little short notice to start training for a 5k but I'm doing the best I can. I think this race will determine if I'm going to be doing some more 5 and 10k's or moving back to the longer distances. I feel great running long and miserable short and fast. But it's probably just because I'm not used to it. I don't know. Maybe I should even get some racing flats for my 5k's. I used to have them back in the day.
All of this complaining is stemming from my 10k at Cowtown on Saturday. I ran 1 minute 18 seconds slower then I wanted. Very disappointing. My time was 46:08 and I was 4th in my age group. Of course they only placed to 3. I could blame it on the rain. (hey, isnt' that a song my Milli Vanilli?)It was cold. My feet were frozen. I could also blame it on not having nano. I never run without it and I could hear my breathing the whole time. I could blame it on starting off way too fast. Or that it was only my second 10k. But really I'll just chalk it up as not my best and leave it at that. It happens. Can't win em all.
On a positive note the day (and weekend) overall was pretty good. Ron, got up at 5:20 am and went to cheer me on with minimal grumbling. Thank you, honey. I got to see Starr and Sheila. We ate breakfast afterward at Esperanzas. It was really good. It's owened by the same people that own Joe T Garcias. After that we headed back to Dallas, got cleaned up and went to look at some houses. I think we've found the area we want to live in. I can't wait! We went to Greenville Avenue that night and tore it up at Suede, which I really like.
I'll try to get the pic of Sheila and I posted tomorrow.
